We all keep our fingers crossed for sunny skies during vacation, but sometimes the weather just doesn’t cooperate with your outdoor plans. Fortunately, the Smoky Mountain area is packed with a variety of excellent indoor things to do. In case you experience some wet weather during your getaway, here are five rainy day activities to enjoy when you're vacationing at our Smoky Mountain condos:
1. Relax by the Stone Fireplace
Our luxurious condos feature stone fireplaces stocked with firewood to create the ultimate relaxing ambiance. Rainy weather provides the perfect opportunity to spend the day by the roaring fire while reading a favorite book or playing board games. If you are enjoying a getaway with your sweetheart, the fire sets the perfect romantic mood for a delightful afternoon in your condo. If you get caught in a downpour outside, you can look forward to drying off with our freshly laundered towels and warming up by the fire.
2. Take Advantage of Our Resort Amenities
Highlands Condos has a fantastic selection of resort amenities to keep you entertained and active throughout a rainy day. Step inside our state of the art fitness center for a great workout, and then relax your muscles in one of our soothing saunas. Our indoor hot tub also tempts guests with its bubbling waters and comforting jets. If you want to kick back in the comfort of your own condo, enjoy a wonderful bath in your unit’s private whirlpool tub!
3. Catch Up on a Favorite TV Show or Website
All of our condos feature cable televisions, so you can sit back and enjoy a favorite program or watch an exciting sports event. We are also pleased to offer high speed internet access, so you can catch up with family and friends back home, or perhaps check the weather to find out when you can plan your outdoor activities in the Smokies. In addition, each of our Smoky Mountain condos features full kitchens where you can prepare meals and snacks while you watch the big game or relax by the fire with your laptop.
4. Check Out the Ripley's Attractions
Highlands Condos is conveniently located just minutes from the fun attractions operated by the Ripley's company, including several indoor activities that are perfect for a rainy day. Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies is home to over 350 marine species, including sharks, penguins, and stingrays. Another popular attraction is Ripley's Believe It or Not Odditorium, which displays such oddities as shrunken heads, a vampire killing kit, and a piece of the Wright Brother’s first airplane! Other great indoor Ripley's attractions include the Haunted Adventure, Moving Theater, Mirror Maze, and Guinness World Records Museum.
5. Sugarlands Visitor Center
Although the rainy weather might prevent you from taking a hike, the Sugarlands Visitor Center is an excellent place to plan your visit to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. In addition to a 20 minute film about the park, you can enjoy fascinating natural history exhibits and talk to rangers about your sunny day itinerary. That way, once it does stop raining, you will be ready to explore! To save money on your vacation, check out our Smoky Mountain Condos Specials page!
